Knowledge is Power

My post this morning was written by my colleague, Dominic O’Neill, who works with me in our Birmingham office on the permanent commercial market. Today he talks about some of the ways in which we work to add value to the employers we work with by seeking to thoroughly understand their project portfolios and thus work with them to ensure a robust and efficient recruitment process.
"I have recently been encouraged by Project Resource to continue my business development plan for the Commercial Market and put more of my time and effort into industry research to make sure I am aware of the development of the construction market; follow the trends and patterns of which sectors are busy and understand who is winning work for the future and not just now.
This sounds like a simple task that any Recruitment Consultant should follow but you would be surprised by how many consultants concentrate purely on working reactively or do not invest as much time and energy into being ahead of the trends as they should do. Here at Project Resource we are investing heavily in this area as a whole, allowing us to follow plans from submission to local councils, gaining planning permission, through to when the main contractor is awarded and then commences on site.
But how does this help employers?
The majority of employers we help, with whom we have we have long term, strong relationships, will inform us in advance of any prospective recruitment needs and give us a good idea of the projects they are completing and starting so we can plan their recruitment with them and ensure that we keep them aware of good candidates available at the right time to be of greatest benefit to their business.
This additional research will allow us to understand the timing and structure of the projects that employers, with whom we have new relationships, are completing and what new projects they will be starting, giving us an idea of when a potential vacancy may arise.
We are then able to proactively seek out potential candidates with the experience and skill sets to fulfil those employers' needs as soon as they arise. This is yet another way in which Project Resource strive to offer the most efficient, cost effective recruitment service possible."
