£500m Royal Elm Park Scheme

It has been announced that Reading FC’s property arm has been given the green light by Reading Borough Council to construct a new development next to Madejski Stadium.

This exciting development will deliver a convention centre, 250-bed hotel, ice rink, hundreds of new homes and new public space. It is also said that substantial investment will be put into public transport for non-match day and match day visitors.

The 630 new homes, which will be created, will consist of a mix of one, two and three bedroom homes, helping to create a community around the impressive stadium.

Reading is one of the UKs fastest growing towns and this huge scheme will see more than 2,000 jobs created during the construction phase and 1,000 jobs created after the construction work is completed.

This is exciting news for Reading as it will help continue to drive more large businesses to the town and will also offer the ability to host international conferences and events.

The scheme will now move into the last stages of planning and if everything goes to plan construction work will commence in early 2018. Final completion of this great scheme is set for 2023.
