3 signs it’s time for a holiday

Taking holiday throughout the year is absolutely key to ensuring you don’t burnout. Taking holiday doesn’t mean that you need to spend a fortune flying off to an exotic island. It can simply mean a break in the UK or even some time off at home. Whatever you choose to do the important thing is to take some time for yourself.

There are huge benefits to taking time off and it really doesn’t pay to be one of those people who boasts about how they still have most of their annual leave left and it’s almost the end of the year… don’t be that person.

In this article we look at the three common signs that it’s definitely time for you to take some time off work, relax and recharge your batteries…

You’re making mistakes

If you find you are making mistakes in your work and not just a few typos here and there, then it’s definitely time to book some time off. You don’t want your colleagues and even worse you manager thinking you’re not up to the task. You’ll find that after a relaxing break you will come back more focussed meaning you can continue to deliver quality work.

You’ve lost your drive

This can really mess with your mind. Often when exhaustion creeps in people tend to lose drive and motivation for their job. Even getting up for work in the morning can be a real effort. Don’t let the simple fact that you need a break make you doubt if you’re in the wrong job. It’s completely normal to fall out of love with your job if you are tired. Take some time off, relax and come back motivated and ready to go again.

You’re quickly getting frustrated

If you’re finding yourself getting regularly annoyed, frustrated or even angry at decisions made at work then you really do need a break. No-one wants to work with someone who is like this, and the longer it goes on the worse your reputation will become. So take some time off, relax and come back feeling happier and and more positive.

Ultimately, companies offer a set amount of annual leave every year and you should be taking it. Burning out will only hinder your career progression and job satisfaction, so book time off throughout the year and avoid the above signs we have discussed.
