Job description


We are currently seeking on behalf of a key client Level 4 Work Place NVQ Assessor based in Coventry on a contract basis for an initial 2 months with the view to extend.

Main duties are to conduct work place based assessments for Rail Engineering and Management based Level 4 NVQ awards.

Experience required:

  • Experience in the delivery of training programmes to include generic engineering, technical, management and safety competence in the work place
  • Strong understanding and/or ability to deliver basic safety training in line with rail industry standards
  • Ability to guide candidates and their line managers through the "Gateway" and "End Point Assessment" (EPA) process
  • Assist with the monitoring, evaluating and reporting of achievement and progression data to ensure maximum progression rates
  • Implementing strategies to raise the standard of teaching utilising technologies and methodologies appropriate to the learning, and contextualised to the rail environment
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Provide required data for awarding organisations and governance processes.



Additional knowledge:

  • Ability to demonstrate significant vocational experience in the rail engineering sector
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the key components of the railway system, and future developments, including ECTS, Digital Railway etc
  • Understanding of the revised education inspection framework and experience of Ofsted requirements
  • Knowledge of funding methodologies relevant to apprenticeship standards



Qualifications:

  • Hold recognised NVQ Assessor award
  • Hold a level 4 or above rail engineering qualification or relevant vocational rail engineering experience
  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy qualifications
  • Holding or working towards a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTTLS)
  • Registered or working towards V1 or recognised equivalent (Desirable)



Top 4 Major Tasks and Activities:

  • Ensure effective and efficient assessment of Level 4 workplace based awards. Ensure effective support to and delivery of other projects with Network Rail
  • Ensure regular reviews of learning take place to enhance the apprentice experience and learning outcomes / achievements



Rate: £400 - £450 per day (Inside IR35) DOE
Location: Coventry based
Duration: 2-3 months initially (potential extensions)
