Job Description

Site Engineer - Highways/Civils

Location: Birmingham
Remuneration: Up to £35,000
Benefits: Company vehicle and fuel card, pension, eligibility for bonus scheme payments after a full year of employment, private healthcare.

An established specialist contractor with over 50 years successful trading history is looking for a Site Engineer to work on projects within the civil engineering and highways sector.

The ideal person will have a minimum of 2 years experience (post-grad) working on site for a contractor and be educated to HNC or HND level in a relevant qualification. This is an excellent opportunity for career devlopment as they will be seeking to improve the persons qualifications and ultimately progress them to Chartered Engineer status with all the attendant mentoring. They will also fund entry onto varied courses to improve their personal qualifications (SMSTS, First Aider, ICorr, SEATS, etc.) will be a part of your development within the company.

Core Duties:

  • Experience of overseeing subcontractors, managing quality control and QA would be an advantage.
  • Recording all events on site in a daily diary is an imperative.
  • Being able to take measurements accurately and to interpret and provide technical data, record "as built" information, read drawings and ability in CAD software are essential - as is the ability to communicate clearly in good English - both written and spoken.
  • Other duties will include measurement of site works, implementation of company procedures, client liaison, representation at site meetings, Specification compliance, ordering of materials and plant, marking out repair areas and reporting on site progress.

The successful Site Engineer will initially be based on site in Birmingham but would be expected to work and travel broadly within the East & West Midlands region.
