Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Assistant Quantity Surveyor | Essex | Residential Developer


This structured and well-established developer have been steadily expanding over the past three years hence the need to add an additional Assistant Quantity Surveyor to their experienced commercial team to work on residential developments located in East London and Essex.

This developer is consistently winning large scale and exciting schemes in East London and Essex; therefore, the successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will have the opportunity to move onto another local scheme following the completion of this project with plenty of opportunity to progress into a more senior role.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable exposure working on a project from cradle to grave with plenty of opportunity to progress into a more senior role.


Responsibilities for this Assistant Quantity Surveyor position:

In short, the successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be reporting directly to the Managing QS on site and will focus on developing their procurement skills and construction knowledge to support the commercial department to facilitate the cost-effective delivery and completion of this development and future developments.

Key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Preparing trade scope and works and selected tender list for approval
  • Holding and taking minutes of Subcontract Post-Tender and Pre-Order Meetings.
  • Preparing final account with subcontractors
  • Assisting with Surveyors' monthly cost reports
  • Assisting Project team with financial implications of site progress decisions
  • Scheduling of directly procured materials to assist buying department
  • Attending Design Team Meetings as required


Requirements for this Assistant Quantity Surveyor position:

  • Must have a BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or a relevant degree.
  • Must have at least 1+ years UK experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor
  • Experience working on new build projects with exposure to JCT form of contract.
  • Previous experience working for a residential developer or main contractor
  • Experience working on a new build residential project will be advantageous
  • Good organisational skills


Remuneration for this Assistant Quantity Surveyor position:

  • £30,000 - £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Car allowance
  • Healthcare benefits.
