Job Description

M&E Project Manager

Remote work with European travel

Rate: £350 - £450 per day + European Travel Costs

Contract: 12 months

Job Ref: JR66142

This is a unique opportunity to work client side on a number of data centre construction new build and upgrade projects throughout Europe. The client seeks a Project Manager, ideally MEP bias or at least with MEP experience, to join the client team as a Client Rep to oversee the Contractor and provide strategic advice to stakeholders.

The M&E Project Manager will ideally offer recent mission critical / Data Centre construction experience, at least offer experience seeing a project through to completion. The Project Manager will also ideally offer comprehensive knowledge of the requirements for the modern high specification construction of data centres, with an in depth understanding of MEP systems.

There will be no set office location from which the M&E Project Manager will be required to be based. This means that when the M&E Project Manager is not required on site they will largely be able to work remotely from home. However, the M&E Project Manager will be expected to travel to sites throughout Europe as required by the client, so a candidate who enjoys travel would be well suited.

The Ideal M&E Project Manager will have come from an engineering background, preferably having worked contractor side in a delivery focused role, but who has also worked in a client-facing (or capable of) position and possesses excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

In addition, the ideal M&E Project Manager will also offer a proven track record in commercial and programme management, producing business cases, reports, and project plans to clients.

Experience / Skills

The experience of the M&E Project Manager should include the following:

  • Recent Data Centre / Data Center construction project experience.
  • Strong onsite delivery and engineering background.
  • Must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills - preferably demonstrably through having previously worked and thrived in a client-facing role
  • Must be either Mechanical or Electrical bias as well as a proven track record managing all services across MEP on live projects (Electrical Engineering, Chilled Water/DX Cooling Systems, and HV Systems etc.)
  • The ideal candidate will also offer experience, though to a lesser scale than with M&E, managing other disciplines such as civil and structural works on a construction build.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced M&E Project Manager with recent data centre / data center construction experience to work client side on one of the largest mission critical sites in Europe.
