Highway Construction Projects
Mobile position visiting sites across the South East London and Chelmsford
£ Day rates depending on experience + car/car allowance Mileage

An Industry leading Contractor is looking for a motivated and experienced Public Liaison Officer operating as a dedicated point of contact for their growing portfolio of Highway schemes. This team has grown in recent times and with continued strong project performance and further anticipated project awarded, this organisation is looking to continue growing head count which includes a Public Liaison Officer. This role will be a roaming position across the various sites which are largely located in the Midlands and Lincolnshire counties, with possibility of further afield travel which could be national.

Role Description:
This role will bring variety with unique challenges and dynamics across the various site - it will be your responsibility to build relationships with the key stakeholders and the community, ensure parties are up to date with developments and promote the project activities in a positive manner. Key duties include:

  • Regular communication and liaison with all key stakeholders as well as holding/attending stakeholder forums
  • Operate as the key point of contact on site for members of the public and all other associated and interested parties
  • Production of project information, marketing and letters outlining key project activities and updates, keeping local residents informed of upcoming works
  • Updating project information boards, managing social media and website, and project information centres
  • Producing effective communication for any disruption works that may affect residents or any other interested parties
  • Completion of weekly reports outlining updates and all verbal and written communications to the public or stakeholders
  • Operating as the key point of contact in relation to all enquiries and complaints from the public and stakeholders
  • Liaising with local schools, colleges and universities to raise the profile of the industry and careers available on the construction site

Operating in a standalone role, this will require a highly organised and motivated individual, able to work autonomously but equally offering the flexibility to manage your own diary. The successful Public Liaison Officer will have the following skills, experience and credentials in the following:

  • Prior experience in a community/public/stakeholder engagement focused role ideally within the construction sector
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An ability to respond effectively to enquiries and complaints
  • Able to work autonomously under your own initiative
  • Team player with ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • A positive and proactive approach
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work accordingly
  • Full UK driving license
