Quantity Surveyor


One of the UK's leading contractors has a requirement for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team near Maidstone.

The Quantity Surveyor is required to work on projects in the power industry, however the client will consider Quantity Surveyors from any background including utilities, infrastructure or general construction.

This is a great opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking for a new challenge or a step up in responsibility.

You will also be working for a contractor who operate a short working week of 35 hours and have a very stable and secured workload with long term framework agreements.

This is a fixed term contract that runs until December 2020 but offers the opportunity for further work after the end of this contract.

The role would be ideal for a Quantity Surveyor looking for a new challenge or an Assistant looking for a step up.

Also this could be ideal for a Quantity Surveyor who is perhaps looking to go freelance and this role could be a stepping stone into that.


Quantity Surveyor Duties

-Manage commercial requirements of sub-contractors from enquiry to final account

-Attend handover and progress meetings

-Liaise with the Commercial Manager to ensure commercial cover is maintained

-Maintain commercial astuteness whilst developing relationships with the operations team, clients and sub-contractors

-Assist in preparation and maintenance of project risk register and management plan

-Liaise with Project Manager, Engineers and Planners with regard to recovery of contract revenue together with enhancing project profit by identifying, submitting and agreeing variations, delays and claims

-Apply professional and balanced negotiation

-Advise and prepare terms and conditions for sub-contractors

-Ensure sub-contractors and suppliers have submitted compliant quotations / enquiries within the timescale required

-Produce monthly project financial and forecast to complete reports for analysis in conjunction with the finance team and Commercial Manager

Quantity Surveyor Requirements

-Degree qualified (ideal)

-3+ years experience

-Driving Licence and own car

-Contractor experience


Quantity Surveyor Remuneration


Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Location: Sittingbourne
Other benefits: 26 days holiday, 6% pension
