Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor | Rail | North London


We are representing a UK's leading construction and infrastructure business. Due to continued growth and being awarded a number of key rail framework contracts our client are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor for their rail team.

This Quantity Surveyor position will be based in North London. Co-located with our client's delivery team, this is a major project for Network Rail which involves the development of a new Thameslink Railway Station as part of an overall re-development of Brent Cross (including commercial & retail).

Initial phase of works includes the development and management of the detailed design, leading into the delivery of the new station incorporating new platforms, architectural station concourse, footbridge and entrance units.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to a Managing QS or a Senior QS, the QS will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring accurate records are maintained for the project.
  • Ensuring appropriate sub-contractor agreements are in place across their projects
  • Producing accurate monthly internal and external cost value reconciliations across their projects.
  • Preparation, submission and management of monthly applications for payment.
  • Instigating any dispute resolution, ensuring all claim notices are issued.
  • Ensuring the prompt settlement of Final Accounts.

Requirements for this Quantity Surveyor position:

  • Educated to HNC / HND level.
  • A proven track record of experience in a similar role within the civils / infrastructure / rail sectors of the construction industry, gained preferably with a main contractor.
  • ICC and NEC3 contract experience with change control knowledge (NEC3 Option E/C experience would be an advantage but not essential)
  • Have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate a high level of commercial knowledge and understanding

Remuneration for this Quantity Surveyor position:

  • £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
