Senior Quantity Surveyor

Salary: Circa £55,000 to £70,000 plus benefits

Location: Beckenham, Kent

The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity with a forward thinking PQS, cost consultancy. They are looking to add a Senior Quantity Surveyor to their Beckenham office. The ideal candidate will be client facing and have worked within consultancies for the majority of their career.

The position will involve delivering a wide range of residential and education projects. These include some exciting, high profile multi-million pound estate regenerations and school refurbishment and extension schemes.

The candidate will be expected to drive the projects forward in a proactive manner, be a team player, focused on excellence in service delivery and communications with Clients and Contractors alike, be extremely organised, personable and have a keen attention to detail. The role offers an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for managing their own workload as well as leading some members of the team.

The Key Requirements

  • Ideally a minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role preferably for a professional Surveying practice.
  • Have a relevant qualification, e.g. degree in Quantity Surveying and preferably be MRICS chartered.
  • Have experience working on Education and Residential projects.
  • Be client facing and possess good communication and report writing skills.
  • The successful candidate will be a confident and competent in all aspects of surveying.
  • Candidate must be able to work autonomously on projects and drive the business forward.

Pre-Contract Responsibilities:

  • Compilation of feasibility estimates and detailed cost plans.
  • Preparation of tender documentation and pre-tender estimates, tender analysis and compilation of contract documents.
  • Advising Clients on procurement options.
  • Value management, value engineering, life cycle costing.

Post Contract Responsibilities:

  • Client and project risk management.
  • Project financial control including cost reporting, valuations negotiations.
  • Dispute management.

General Duties

  • Client liaison on both project level and business development.
  • Delegation of tasks to junior staff members, including quality assurance checks.
  • If chartered, supervise APC candidates and contribute to staff training.
